Lessons Learned From The Newark Airport Hilton

I shared this with some of you.....

At Wisdom School during lunch.....

On Saturday.....

I want to remind YOU......

And put this object lesson in your head.....

So that you see this.......

Over, and over, and over again......

Where YOU are everyday......

This goes back to something that Joe Schroeder teaches.....

(and WILL be another note, soon)

"What YOU Sell......Cannot Be Your Business!!"

Here is my first question.....

What does the Newark Airport Hotel sell???



Rooms, or sleeping accomodations, would be right....

BUT......

Where does this Hilton make the Most Money....

With the MOST Profit??????


The rooms???

The restaurant???

The bar???

The coffee shop???

The gift shop???

Parking???

Nope, nope, nope on ALL counts!!!

Let me share this scenario.....

Mr Hilton was sitting in his office.....

He heard a knock on his door.....

A man walked in and said.....

"Mr Hilton, I am with Verizon Wireless...."

"With the airport close by, I CANNOT put up a cell tower...."

"You, Sir, have the tallest building in the area....."

"May I put a cell tower ON TOP of your hotel????"


Mr Hilton said, "Sure you can!!!"

He extended his right hand to confirm the deal.....

And extended his left hand, to say, "Pay ME!!"



Yeah, I KNOW that is a "right hand" in the pic!!!

The next day, there was a knock on the door....

"Mr Hilton, I am with AT&T Wireless...."

"I see you let Verizon put up a tower....."

"May I put one up too????"


Mr Hilton said, "Sure You CAN!!!!"

Extending BOTH hands in agreement.....

The next day, Nextel....

Then Sprint.....

Then T-Mobile.....

You name them and they came......

Mr Hilton ALWAYS said......

"Sure YOU can!!!!"

As he extended BOTH hands!!!


Look at the center of the roof......

Those are cell and radio towers....

Sticking up in the center!!!



It gets better yet!!!

Soon, there was another knock at the door....

"Mr Hilton, I am with the County 911 Center......"

"We need to stay in CONSTANT communication......"

"With our First Responders......."

"Police, Fire, Ambulance........"

"Could WE put a 'radio repeater tower' on YOUR roof????"


Mr Hilton said, "Sure, anything to HELP my community!!"

Extending BOTH hands in agreement, again!!

More radio towers came as well.....

To Mr Hilton, who would say "YES!!!"

WHY would he do that???

WHY would he rent out his roof????

WHY is it the MOST profitable????

The roof is never seen by guests....

It only holds air conditioning and heating units.....

He IS profiting from un-used space.....

MOSTLY because NOBODY from the Hilton.....

Has to do a thing to maintain the towers!!!

The tower owner rents the space.....

And has to make the repairs and adjustments....

To their own tower!!!!

Mr Hilton has somebody open up......

The monthly checks that tower owners send HIM!!!



Look around YOU......

There is something that YOU can do.....

To be YOUR hotel rooftop......

Where people send YOU a monthly check.....

Yeah, it may not be as easy as Mr Hilton's.....

You may have to do some work....
